Facts first, draft second
A practical way to draft an AI-assisted email without inventing commitments.
Start with the objective
Before opening the chat, describe the result in one sentence: request a document, confirm a meeting, answer a complaint. A polished draft is still unhelpful if its objective changes halfway through.
Separate facts from choices
Collect confirmed dates, received documents and open questions in one block. Put tone, recipient and length in another. Ask the model to use the first block for information and the second for presentation.
Keep gaps visible
A missing amount is not solved by a plausible number. Ask for [amount to confirm], [date] or [contact name]. A placeholder turns uncertainty into something you can check.
Check verbs and promises
Reread sentences beginning with “we confirm”, “we guarantee” or “we will”. They are commitments even when they sound like polite formulas. Keep only the ones you authorized, then check recipients, attachments and signature before sending.
