Guide
How to install Omnipal, connect your account and set up your AI provider.
Install the extension
Omnipal works with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Omnipal is being published on the Chrome Web Store and Edge Add-ons: the links will appear here as soon as the listings are live.
- Open Omnipal’s page on the Chrome Web Store (or on Edge Add-ons, if you use Edge).
- Press Add to Chrome (in Edge: Get) and confirm.
- Pin the Omnipal icon to the toolbar: puzzle icon, then the pin next to Omnipal.
- Open the Omnipal pop-up and press Sign in: carry on with the next step.
If your computer is managed by your company and installation is blocked, ask IT to allow the extension.
Connect your account
The extension opens this site’s sign-in page. Sign in with Google or with the 6-digit code we email you: if you don’t have an account yet, we create it right then.
When the page says Extension connected you can close it and go back to your browser. You can connect up to 5 devices; revoke the ones you no longer use from your account.
Set up your AI provider
Omnipal uses your own API key: the code the AI provider uses to recognise you and bill you for model usage. In Omnipal’s Settings pick the provider, paste the key, press Test connection and then Load models to choose the model.
| Provider | Where to create the key | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI | platform.openai.com | Needs prepaid credit on the account. |
| Anthropic | console.anthropic.com | Claude models; prepaid credit. |
| Google Gemini | aistudio.google.com | Has a free tier, but Google may use the content to improve its products. |
| Mistral AI | console.mistral.ai | Servers in the European Union. |
| xAI | console.x.ai | |
| DeepSeek | platform.deepseek.com | |
| Groq | console.groq.com | Very fast replies with open models. |
| OpenRouter | openrouter.ai | One key for models from many providers. |
Model names change often: if a model no longer exists, press Load models and pick one from the updated list.
Ollama, models on your own computer
With Ollama the model runs on your computer: your emails never leave it and it costs nothing. Install Ollama, download a model (for example ollama pull llama3.2) and allow requests from extensions, then restart Ollama. On Windows:
setx OLLAMA_ORIGINS "chrome-extension://*"
On the first test your browser asks for permission to contact localhost.
Azure OpenAI and compatible services
Choose Custom and enter the service address (for Azure https://RESOURCE-NAME.openai.azure.com/openai/v1), the key and the deployment name as the model. For Azure, set authentication to api-key.
Use Omnipal in Gmail
| What you want to do | How |
|---|---|
| Reply | Open the conversation and press Reply with AI next to the subject, or AI next to Send in the reply window. |
| Write a new email | Press Compose in Gmail, then AI, and describe in a few words what you want to say: Omnipal drafts the subject and the text. |
| Polish a draft | Write your text, press AI and choose “Improve and rewrite” or “Fix mistakes only”. |
| Open the panel from the keyboard | Alt+M, which you can change in chrome://extensions/shortcuts. |
- Suggestions: when the panel opens you get four possible replies; one click and the reply is in your draft.
- Tone, length and language: 14 tones, 4 lengths and 35 languages, or the language of the conversation.
- Highlighted text: if you select part of the message before opening the panel, the reply focuses on it.
- Insert into email: the text goes into the draft above the signature and the quoted text; everything stays editable and Ctrl+Z undoes it. Regenerate gives you other versions.
- Ctrl+Enter generates, Esc closes the panel.
Omnipal never sends an email for you: sending is always your call.
Rules, memories and signature
- Always-on instructions: rules the AI follows in every text, such as “Don’t make up anything that isn’t in the thread or in your memories” (on by default). You can edit them, pause them or add up to 30.
- Profile and memories: your name and facts the AI can use (business, products, opening hours, contacts). Don’t add passwords or confidential data: they are sent to the provider with every request.
- Automatic signature: added at the end of every generated email; you can paste your own signature with bold text, links and logo.
- Backup: export and import your settings as a file, with or without API keys.
Privacy and security
- Email text goes straight from your browser to the AI provider you chose, only when you generate text or, if you turn them on, for suggestions. It never passes through Omnipal servers.
- API keys stay only in this browser, in an area only the extension can access. We never receive them, not even with sync.
- How data is used depends on the provider: for work email prefer a paid plan, a provider with EU servers such as Mistral, or Ollama on your own computer.
- Details are in the privacy policy.
Common problems

- Reload the Gmail tab and check in Omnipal’s Preferences that the buttons are turned on.
